ঈশ্বরগঞ্জে নারী ধর্ষণের অভিযোগে থানায় মামলা

বারী সুমন, ঈশ্বরগঞ্জঃ ময়মনসিংহের ঈশ্বরগঞ্জ উপজেলার সদর ইউনিয়নে এক নারী ধষর্ণের শিকার হয়েছে। এ ঘটনায় বুধবার ধষির্তার বাবা বাদি হয়ে ধর্ষক আব্দুস ছামাদকে আসামী করে থানায় মামলা করেন। মামলা নং ০১ তারিখ ০২/০৬/২০২১। জানা যায়, ঈশ্বরগঞ্জ ইউপির দক্ষিণ কাকনহাটি গ্রামের আব্দুর রাশিদের পুত্র আব্দুস ছামাদ (২২) একই গ্রামের এক যুবতী নারীকে (১৮) বিয়ের প্রলুভনে শারীরিক সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে এতে ওই নারী অন্তঃসত্ত¡বা হয়ে পড়ে। পারিবারিক ভাবে বিয়ের প্রস্তাব দিলে ছামাদের পরিবার তাল বাহানা করে। পরে বিষয়টি স্থানীয় চেয়ারম্যানকে অবহিত করলে তিনি থানায় যেতে বলেন। ঈশ্বরগঞ্জ থানার ওসি আব্দুল কাদের মিয়া জানান, আসামী ধরার প্রক্রিয়া চলছে। মামলা দায়েরের পর ভিকটিমের জবানবন্ধি গ্রহণের জন্য আদালতে ও তার ডাক্তারী পরীক্ষার জন্য ময়মনসিংহ মোডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে প্রেরণ করা হয়। ...

Former Bangladesh home minister Sahara Khatun MP dies

Senior Awami League leader and former home minister Sahara Khatun has died at a Bangkok hospital at the age of 77. The MP from Dhaka-18 breathed her last at 11:25pm BdST on Thursday, said her aide and relative Anisur Rahman, who was accompanying her there. Party chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has mourned her longtime confidante Sahara. President Md Abdul Hamid said in a condolence message that Bangladesh has lost a dedicated politician through the death of Sahara Khatun. Sahara Khatun was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka on Jun 2 with a fever, allergy and other preexisting conditions and later moved to the intensive care unit when her condition deteriorated. She was flown to Thailand and admitted to Bumrungrad Hospital last Monday. A member of the Awami League's presidium, Sahara Khatun is a three-time MP from the Dhaka seat. The authorities have sealed off the two branches of the hospital and its headquarters in Dhaka’s Uttara also on charges of billing patients wrongfully and ignoring reminders to renew its licence for years. The Rapid Action Battalion in a case described Shahed as “cunning and greedy”. His Facebook profile says he is a member of the international affairs subcommittee of the ruling party. The people with him in photos on the page include the head of the government, ministers, MPs, top officials of law enforcement and top bureaucrats. Some users have shared photos of Shahed with influential BNP leaders while some others have written how close he was to controversial businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun. He also became close to Hawa Bhaban, the centre of the BNP’s power, some claimed. Shahed arrived in Dhaka from Satkhira during his final days in school, his mother Safia Karim had once been involved with the Mahila Awami League, locals said. Two years after his arrest on charges of fraud in 2009, Shahed allegedly defrauded a number of people of millions of taka by opening a multi-level marketing business at Dhanmondi. Later, he established Regent Group by using his influence on powerful people. Besides hospital, the company has college, university, real estate and hotel business. The coronavirus (Covid-19) death toll has reached 5,37,178 as 1,15,80,092 people have been infected worldwide till Monday afternoon (July 6, Bangladesh Time).  A total of 65,47,935 people have recovered worldwide from the disease, according to latest data from worldometer. A total of 213 countries and territories and two international conveyances have been infected in the deadly disease. In USA, 29,83,142 people have been infected in the disease. Of them, 1,32,571 people have died and 12,89,687 people have recovered. Active cases are 15,60,884 In Brazil, 16,04,585 people have been infected with coronavirus. Of them, 64,900 patients have died and 9,78,615 recovered. In UK, 2,85,416 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Of them, 44,220 patients have died. In Italy, 2,41,611 people have been infected in the disease. Of them, 34,861 people have died and 1,92,108 people have recovered.  In France, 1,66,960 people have been infected in the disease. Of them, 29,893 patients have died and 77,060 patients have recovered. In Spain, 2,97,625 patients have been diagnosed with coronavirus. Of them, 28,385 have died in the country.  In Mexico, 2,56,848 people have been affected with coronavirus. Of them, 30,639 died and 1,55,604 recovered from the disease. Legendary singer Andrew Kishore no more

RAJSHAHI: Renowned singer Andrew Kishore has passed away. He was 64. He breathed his last at 6:55pm on Monday (July 6) while undergoing treatment in his sister Shikha Biswas's house in Rajshahi that also adjoins a small clinic. Dr Patrick Bipul Das, the brother-in-law of the singer, confirmed the matter to Banglanews. Earlier in the day, the singer was put on oxygen support as his health condition deteriorated around noon. The health condition of the legendary singer deteriorated quickly after he had returned home from Singapore.    The singer had been undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital from September last year. After getting discharge certificate from the hospital in Singapore, he returned Dhaka on June 11 by a special flight. After spending one week in Dhaka, he went to Rajshahi, according to family members. Andrew Kishore was diagnosed with cancer in September last year. He underwent chemotherapy at Singapore General Hospital. After a nine-month battle, he finally returned to Bangladesh from Singapore. Govt to mitigate Covid-hit people’s woes: PM

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said her government is trying its best to mitigate the woes of the people hit hard by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. She said: “There is a huge population who remain out of the attention of the society….but we are trying our best to minimise their ordeal and sorrow by extending support to them in various ways.” The prime minister was taking part in a discussion on an obituary reference brought by Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the inaugural sitting of the eighth session of the 11th parliament. The Leader of the House also reiterated that she will continue to do everything necessary so that the people don’t go through hardship due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The eighth session which is also the budget session of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) for the fiscal year (FY) 2020-’21 began this afternoon maintaining the health guidelines and social distancing in view of the COVID-19 situation in the country. At the outset of the day’s proceedings, the Speaker brought the obituary reference on distinguished persons who died since the 7th session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad. So, there is nothing to be afraid of here,” she said in response to a suggestion of Opposition Chief Whip Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga. Bangladesh reports minimum Covid-19 spread among Rohingyas

DHAKA: Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN in New York Ambassador Rabab Fatima has said different measures taken by the government have kept Covid-19 spread among the Rohingya population to a minimum level. The PR also mentioned that the Rohingyas had been included in Bangladesh’s national COVID response and recovery plans. She was speaking at the high-level panel discussion on “Addressing the increasing complexity of health challenges in humanitarian context” in the 2020 ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment (HAS) on Tuesday June 10).  Sharing Bangladesh’s experience, the PR stated that Bangladesh’s hosting of the 1.1 million Rohingyas from Myanmar demonstrated its commitment to humanity and human rights. Rabab Fatima briefed the meeting about some of the efforts of the government to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 in the Rohingya camps which include steps taken to put in place hygiene and social distance measures and setting up of temporary isolation centres while ensuring that humanitarian operations such as food, nutrition, water and sanitation programmes continued unhindered. Morocco as the Vice President of the ECOSOC had chaired the ECOSOC HAS meeting while Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mr. Mark Lowcock moderated the discussion. Earlier, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres addressed the HAS and mentioned that health emergencies such as the COVID 19 pandemic could exacerbate any humanitarian crisis, and therefore, the refuges and other people in humanitarian situations were being given high priority in the UN’s Global Humanitarian Response Plan. Ashraful Alom Saeed , best known as Hero Alom , is a Bangladeshi freelancer music video model, actor and social media phenomenon.He is not a member of Bangladeshi film industry, he is an independent artist who share videos in social platform. Earlier in his life, Alom had been employed selling CDs and later started a satellite TV connection business. He began making music videos as a hobby. Some of his music videos went viral in 2015, and Alom became a popular target of online trolling and a popular subject of memes in Bangladesh. As of December 2018, Alom has acted in one feature film. A Hindi play based on Alom, directed by NSD-graduate Mahesh Ruprao Ghodeswar, was staged in 2019, in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. It is a fictionalised bio-play. Candidacy in 2018 General Election of Bangladesh In 2018 Alom decided to contest in 2018 Bangladeshi general election and he bought his candidature form for Bogra-4 constituency buying a Jatiya Party (E) nomination paper ahead of the 11th national elections,[13] but Jatiya Party denied him nomination. Later, he sought his candidacy as an independent candidate. On 10 December High Court instructed Bangladesh Election Commission to accept his candidature form as the latter authority denied his candidature earlier and Alom contested in the election as an independent candidate.
